York Design Award

CATEGORIES

The Awards are open to all developments within the City of York Council boundary, normally completed between 1st January 2007 and 31st December 2009 (schemes previously submitted cannot be re-entered).

There will be Awards in each category together with the The Lord Mayor’s Award, sponsored by York Property Forum.

Categories are as follows:
New Build
Residential (Domestic, including Extensions, Developments)
Non-residential (Public, Community, Commercial)
Conservation including reuse
Open Space/Public Realm

Criteria:
The following criteria will be taken into consideration:
Quality of Design
Context
Materials & Workmanship
Sustainability
Ability to Delight

Judges

The panel of four judges will be chaired by Mr. Ken Powell MA. All are eminent in their chosen fields of architecture, planning and conservation.

Mr Powell is an architecture writer and critic, Hon. Secretary of the Architectural Association, a former director of the Twentieth Century Society, and serves on London Diocesan Advisory committee, Guildford Cathedral Fabric Committee, and Leeds Diocese Historic Churches Committee.
